Commercial Pilots Licence
Obtaining a CPL is the next step after your PPL if you wish to become a career pilot.
To gain employment in the Queenstown area it is generally required that in addition to a CPL you have also completed a mountain flying course, and have 50 hrs local experience. For many of those completing a PPL and then a CPL with the Wakatipu Aero Club, the necessary 50 hrs of mountain flying will arise from the necessary hour building between PPL and CPL.
Those completing a CPL with the Wakatipu Aero Club will then (providing they satisfy our requirements) usually be offered the opportunity of flying for our commercial arm Air Wakatipu. These pilots are given extensive on-going training that is very sought-after by other operators on the field or nationwide.
